Note: If you have reserved specific stock components by allocating stock, use the Confirm Build routine to build from the allocation.
Use Record Built Items to allocate and issue component stock immediately.
Finished stock is updated in Stock Control with quantities for any manufactured item.
Note: You cannot build a BOM that is on hold.
The Record Built Items window is split into two parts:
This is the top part of the window. This is where you add the BOMs that you want to build.
BOMs are built in the order in which they are listed. You can move items up the list so that they are considered first in the process.
You can choose various options during the build process. You can:
If your stock system is set to use warehouses, you can specify the component warehouses to use during building. To do this, click Warehouses and select the warehouses from the list.
This is the bottom part of the window. It is blank until you click Process. This checks whether there are sufficient components to build the BOMs.
The column Can be built? in the Bill of Materials to Build list displays a Not Processed message until you click Process. Afterwards, it displays one of the following messages, depending on the options you use to run the process:
Note: If you make changes to the component list (e.g. adding or deleting components), the Can be built? value is not updated.
The Properties column gives you additional information about any constraints on the stock item.
For example, whether the stock item is serial numbered or is a miscellaneous item.
The components displayed in the bottom part of the window remain the same, even when you change BOMs or the order of BOMs in the Bill of Materials to Build list. In this case, the following message appears just above the results:
** Results are out of date **
To update the components area, click Process again.
If you add components, or substitute components with alternatives, this message appears in the Components area:
** Modifications made **
After checking that you have sufficient component stock and making adjustments to the components, you can:
To ensure you can build successfully, you must check that:
Note: You can only build an active BOM.
Open: Bill of Materials > Processing > Record Built Items.
A unique, system-generated Build Number is displayed. This number is made up from: user number : date (ddmmyyyy) : time (hhmmss).
You can do this in the following ways:
The Select Bill of Materials Group window appears.
The Select Multiple Bill of Materials window appears.
To change the default build options, if required, click Options and select the options from the drop-down list.
Note: To ensure end to end traceability searching, using the Traceability Enquiry window, we recommend you add only one individual BOM.
Note: If you enter a quantity which does not match the unit of measureThe quantity in which a stock item is measured for purchase, sale or storage., the quantity is automatically adjusted to the nearest appropriate value.
The results are calculated and displayed in the following ways:
The quantities are converted to stock units.
Note: The Quantity Required value will include the scrap percentage if you have selected to calculate scrap in Record Built Items on the BOM Settings Scrap tab.
Sub-assemblies are highlighted in colour (blue by default).
Shortages are highlighted in colour (red by default).
Whether you can do the following, depends on whether you have the required settings selected in the Build tab of BOM Settings.
Note: If you make changes to the component list, the Can be built? value is not updated.
Note: This defaults to what you have set in the Build tab on BOM Settings.
The report shows:
The Confirm Traceable Built Item Details window appears. The window is used to assign batch or serial numbers to built items.
Note: You must enter the Quantity required.
The Select Traceable Components for Build window appears. The window is used to assign batch or serial numbers to components used in building the BOMs.
Note: You can build quantities from different batches unless the item is a single batch item. If it is then you must build the Total quantity from one batch.
Note: The number of Serial numbers selected must match the Total Quantity.
Note: Full component traceability is chosen by selecting the Component association required box on the BOM record Details tab.
The Confirm Component Association window appears. The window is used to match the traceable components to the traceable built items.
All traceable numbers for the component are listed in the lower part of the window.
Note: The total stock quantity entered must be the same as the amount specified in the Quantity required box.
Note: You must select the same amount as that specified in the Quantity required box.
Note: The items selected must match the Quantity for the traceable assembly.
