Stock Code/Name |
Select the component stock code or name. |
|
Use specific Version |
If version control is in use and the stock item is a built item, select this option to select a specific version of a sub-assembly to use as a component on the BOM. The default value from Use specific version for subassemblies in the BOM settings General tab is used with this option. The current active or last new version of the subassembly is selected by default. To add a specific version, select Use specific Version. Note: You cannot add a sub-assembly with a status of new, obsolete or retired to an active BOM. |
|
BOM Version |
The last new or current active BOM version is displayed, depending on the Use specific version for subassemblies setting in the BOM settings General tab. To select a different version of the BOM, select Use specific Version, and then select the BOM Version from the drop-down list. |
|
Instruction |
Enter any instructions relating to this particular component. |
|
Quantity |
Enter the quantity of this component, or raw materialsThe base materials from which sub-assemblies, components and finished goods are made., required to manufacture the finished item. Note: If you are entering component references on the Component References tab, you must enter the same number of references as the Quantity value. |
|
Unit of Measure |
The Unit of Measure displayed is from the stock record, but you can change it here. |
|
Scrap Percent |
The allowance for scrapThe loss of a completed part., when issuing this BOM, defaults to the Scrap Percent on the Stock Control record Manufacturing tab. You can amend this value for the component if required. If no record exists or the percentage on the record is zero, enter the allowance value for scrap. |
|
Sequence |
BOM components are taken in a sequence determined by the defaults on the BOM settings Resequence tab. If you want to change the sequence number, enter a new number here. |
|
Fixed Quantity |
Select this check box if you do not want to multiply the quantity by the batch quantity when ordering. For example, if the component quantity is two, and the batch quantity is 1000, ordinarily Manufacturing issues 2000 components. If you select the Fixed Quantity check box, it issues only two components. Note: Estimates are always created, using multiples of the quantity entered. If you selected Component Association Required on the BOM Details tab, then you cannot select Fixed Quantity for the component. |
|
Use only in BOM module |
Select the Use only in BOM module check box if you do not want to include the component in any calculations outside Bill of Materials. For example, if you select this box for a component, and create a works order from the BOM, then the component will not be included in the works order that is created. Note: This is only applicable if you are using Bill of Materials with Manufacturing. If you are using Bill of Materials by itself, you do not need to use this check box. |
If you selected Component references required on the Components tab, you can enter component references on the Component References tab.
If your business uses batch or serial numbers, you may want to enter one or more component references against the BOM component.
You may also use component references when you have certain components that need to be associated with specific tasks, positions or processes within a BOM.
For example, a circuit board is made up of transistors, and in many cases, several different types of transistor. The different types of transistor can only be placed in certain positions within the board. Transistor type 1 can only be placed in position A, C and E, whereas transistor type 2 can only be placed in position B, D, F and G. You could enter component references against Transistor type 1 as PosA,PosC,PosE and those against Transistor type 2 as PosB,PosD,PosF,PosG.
Quantity checks are only performed when at least one component reference has been entered. So you can enter component references on some components but not on others.
