The details that are saved with the BOM record and the sequence of the following steps are dependent on the settings you have selected for the BOM.
Note: If the BOM is a subassembly, weight is not calculated for higher level BOMs. To ensure that the weight of higher level BOMs is calculated, you must use the Update Bills of Materials Weights option.
Manufacturing costs the BOM, and writes the results to the Costing tab of the BOM record for future reference.
If the Prompt when stock level is zero and Prompt when stock item has zero costs settings are not selected on the Costing tab in BOM Settings, you are prompted for a cost for the sub-assemblyWhen raw materials or components make a part of a finished product. The sub-assembly may be combined with other components or with other sub-assemblies in the manufacture of finished goods. in the Enter cost prices for BOM window.
This window indicates that there is no cost or a zero stock level stored in the stock record for a component on the BOM.
The window clears to allow you to enter details of another BOM.
