Product group discount

You can assign one or more discount values to a product group. The discount applies to all stock items linked to the product group, irrespective of the stock item selling unit. For example, the discount is applied whether the item is sold as a single item, or in boxes of ten, or cases of six.

You can control which customers are eligible for product group discounts, by linking the discounts with customer discount groups.

To set up product group discounts

Open: Price Book > Discounts > Discounts for Product Group.

  1. Select the product group.
  2. To add a discount
    1. Either:
      • Click Add.

        • or

      • Select an existing discount, and click Duplicate.

        • Note: Using Duplicate does not copy the discount groups linked to the discount.

    2. Enter a unique name for the discount.
    3. Enter a flat rate discount amount or quantity break discounts.

      4. If you use quantity break discounts:

      • Enter the number of items that define the quantity break in Quantity Of or More Than
      • Enter a discount Value for the quantity break.
      • The modifier determines whether it is a discount or a surcharge.

      Note: If you want to remove a quantity break discount, select the discount, and click Delete.

    4. Click OK.

      5. Note: If there is more than one discount value the system checks that lower prices (or larger discounts) are offered for larger quantities.

  3. To edit a discount
    1. Select the discount.
    2. Click Edit.
    3. Amend the discount name, if required.
    4. Amend the Flat rate discount, or the Quantity break discounts.
    5. Click OK.

      6. The amendments only affect new orders created subsequently using the discount. They do not affect existing orders.

  4. To remove a discount
    1. Select the discount you want to remove.
    2. Click Remove.

      3. Note: You cannot delete a discount that is linked to a customer discount group.

  5. Click Close.

To link and unlink product group discounts and customer discount groups

This can be done from the product group discount, or from the customer discount group.

From Discounts for Product Group

Open: Price Book > Discounts > Discounts for Product Group.

  1. Select the product group.
  2. Select the product group discount you want to link.
  3. Click Link to Groups.
  4. To add groups
    1. click Add Groups.
    2. Select from the list of available groups.
    3. Click OK.
  5. To remove groups
    1. Select the groups you want to remove.
    2. Click Remove Group.
  6. Click Close.
From Customer Discount Groups

Open: Price Book > Discount Groups > Link Discounts to Customer Discount Group.

Open: Price Book > Discount Groups > Customer Discount Groups.

  1. Select the discount group.
  2. To link discounts
    1. Select Product Group Discounts or Stock Item Discounts.
    2. Click Add.
      • For product discounts, select the Product group and Discount.
      • For item discounts, select the Stock item, Unit and Discount.
    3. Click Save.

      4. Note: If the discount is already linked to another discount group, confirm that you want to link the discount to this discount group instead.

  3. To unlink discounts
    1. Select Product Group Discounts or Stock Item Discounts.
    2. Select the discounts that you want to remove.

      3. Tip: To select more than one item using the mouse, hold down the Ctrl key to pick individual items, or hold down the Shift key to select a block of items.

    3. Click Remove.
  4. Click Close.
