Labour categories

(Works Orders)

You can use labour categories to group employees by function or skill. Labour categories are used in timesheet entry in Works Orders > Enter Costs. They are also used, if you use Operation Times.

Typical employees may be operatives, supervisors, apprentices, fitters and installers. Generally, employees in a category are charged at the same rate. However, you can apply different rates to individual employees, regardless of category.

To enter or amend labour categories

Open: Manufacturing System Manager > Labour Categories > Records > Enter New Record.

  1. Enter a Reference for the labour categoryUsed to group employees according to their function or skill within the production process. For example, apprentices, fitters or supervisors. This grouping can be used when entering timesheet information or in the Operation Times module..

Note: You may find it helpful to incorporate at least some characters from the description in the code. For example, operative may have a reference of OP.

  2. Enter any appropriate notes in the Memo box.
  3. Enter a default Hourly Charge Rate for the category. You can change this for individual employees, if required.
  4. When you have entered all the required information, click Save.

To delete labour categories

Open: Manufacturing System Manager > Labour Categories > Records > Amend Record.

  1. Select the Reference.
  2. Click Delete.
  3. Click Yes at the prompt to confirm that you want to delete the labour category.

    The labour category is deleted.
