Primary resources

You can change how the resources are displayed in the sequencer or change the order in which they appear.

To edit a primary resource

Open: Main Menu > Maintain Database > Primary Resources.

  1. Double-click on the desired primary resourceSince Graphical Planner is a single constraint scheduler, the resource you select is the Primary Resource. You can determine whether machine or labour is your primary resource by specifying the type in Manufacturing's Planning Defaults window..

The Edit Resources Information window appears.

Note: Do not change the Name or Description here, because Graphical Planner will not allocate work correctly. You must edit the Primary Resource name and description in Manufacturing.

  2. Edit the Default Calendar Template, if required. The default value is set for the resource in the sequencer.
  3. Select a capacity of Finite, Infinite or Infinite with Shift Patterns.
  4. Enter an Efficiency % value. Normal efficiency is 100%. You can use this to change the processing time of all operations assigned to this resource.

Note: If anything less than 100% is entered, capacity is reduced.

  5. Select Apply Efficiency to Setups? if you want to apply the Efficiency % value to all operations that have setup times and are scheduled on the resource.
  6. Specify the Viewer system applied to the resource.

This is used when the scheduling system is connected to one or more Preactor viewers. It defines which viewer the operations for this resource should be sent to when a schedule is released. The operations are displayed on the selected viewer.

  7. Select Exclude from Performance Metrics to exclude the resource from the schedule performance metrics calculations. For example, if a resource has infinite capacity, it should be excluded from the calculations.
  8. Select the Display Usage Plot? check box to display a usage plotWithin Graphical Planner, this indicates the amount of work waiting to be processed at a selected resource across the period of the schedule. It can also display the utilisation of a resource, as well as the queue. for the resource located in the sequencer Plots window.
  9. Click OK.
  10. Click Save.
