You can add analysis codes to your stock transactions in the Stock Control module. Use this option to select the analysis codes that you want to use for your stock transactions. You can use up to 20 analysis codes in the Stock Control module.
Analysis codes are extra pieces of information that you can add to stock transactions as goods are moved in and out of the warehouse. You can use them to filter your stock transactions on reports and workspaces. For example, you could use analysis codes to note which Sage 200 user entered the stock transaction. You can then run a report to confirm that the stock movement amounts are as expected.
Each analysis code has two parts. A Code for the type of information and a set of Values that can be applied to your stock transactions. In our example, if you were using codes to see who entered the stock transaction, you could set up a User analysis with the values Bob, John, and Kim.
You set up your analysis codes and values in the Accounting System Manager module.
Once you have specified the analysis codes, you can enter the Value for each analysis code on the Analysis tab when entering the transaction. If you do not want to use an analysis code on a transaction, leave the Value blank. If the code has a Default value set in the Accounting System Manager, this value is added to the transaction automatically.
Note: You cannot change the analysis code on stocktake transactions or on stock opening balance transactions. For these transactions, the default value is used if one has been set up.
You can also choose to add stock analysis codes to your Sales and Purchase documents.
Open: Stock Control > Utilities > Stock Maintenance > Maintain Analysis Codes.
If required, enter a different Field Label.
The field label appears as the Analysis Code on the stock transaction window, as criteria on stock reports and as a column label in workspaces.
Select Mandatory if all your stock transactions must use this analysis code.
To make a code Mandatory, you must have specified a default value for this analysis code in the Accounting System Manager.
If a code is Mandatory, you cannot save a stock transaction without specifying a value.
