Scrapping components

During manufacture, componentsRaw materials used to manufacture finished goods. or raw materialsThe base materials from which sub-assemblies, components and finished goods are made. may become spoilt or damaged and need to be scrapped. You can scrapThe loss of a completed part. materials after issue.

The stock levels are automatically adjusted in the Stock Control module.

If components are traceable and part of a completed item on the works order, they cannot be scrapped. However, you can substitute traceable components to scrap. You may need to do this if you need to replace an item that has failed quality control processes.

To scrap components

Open: Works Orders > Processing > Scrap > Scrap Components.

  1. Select the works order from the drop-down list.
  2. All componentsRaw materials used to manufacture finished goods. issued against this works order are listed. You can view the amount required and the number of components that have been scrapped already.

  3. Select the required component and enter the amount of the components to scrap in the Scrap Now box.

  4. Select the Scrap Code relating to the reason behind the scrapping.
  5. Enter any additional text required in the Scrap Text box.
  6. Repeat the above steps for each component.
  7. To proceed, click OK.
  8. Confirm that you want to save the changes when prompted.

    If the component is traceable, the record is retained showing that the items were issued to the works order but the record is marked as scrapped.

    A scrap transaction is created and linked to the works order. This shows the date, time, operator, quantity and reason code together with the works order and product.
