Paying people a net salary

Sage Cover Extra webinars

You can use your software to pay salaries as a net amount. Net pay is the amount left over following the deductions from the gross salary. Your software calculates the gross amount needed to provide the employee with their net pay.

Note: If you want to make a net payment that forms part of an employees final salary, such as an extra £100 net as a bonus? You should set up a Net Payment. For more information, see Managing net payments.

To apply Net to Gross Payments

  1. From the employee list select the relevant employees > Employee > Employee Record.
  2. Employment > Pay Elements.
  3. Select the Apply Net to Gross Payments check box > Save.

Tip: If you have selected more than one employee from the employee list > Next > Pay Elements and repeat step 3.

  4. When you have finished > Save > Close.

Tip: To specify that a group of employees receive a net salary, it is easier to use the Global changes option.
