Maintaining your profit & loss and balance sheet nominal accounts

If you don't want to use the default nominal accounts, you easily update them to reflect the codes you use in your accounts software. You can also create new codes in Sage 50 Payroll, without having to open your accounts software.


To update the nominal accounts

  1. Select Company > Nominal Settings > select the appropriate Analysis tab. For example, P&L Analysis.
  2. In the Acc N/C column, enter the nominal code for each category you want post to in your accounts software.

    Tip: If you are linking to Sage 50 Accounts or Sage Instant Accounts, use the finder button to select a code from your accounts. If the code you want to use is not listed, to create a new code:

  3. To breakdown your costs further, you can:

    Tip: If you are linking to Sage 200 or posting to a file, you can use the department or cost centre reference from your employee's records, instead of manually entering them. To do this, select the Use Employees' Departments to fill incomplete categories check box or Use Employees' Cost Centres to fill incomplete categories check box.

  4. When you have finished > OK.
