If you receive electronic copies of your bank statements from your bank and have e-banking software that is compatible with Sage 200, your bank statements can be reconciled automatically. You can import your bank transactions from your bank's software into Sage 200. The transactions are then matched to those stored in the Cash Book.
Any transactions that have not been matched in the imported file are kept and displayed next time you reconcile.
The way the reconciliation works depends on how you have set up the electronic banking options.
You cannot add any transactions to the Cash Book when you reconcile electronically. You must use the Payments and Receipts options to record additional transactions. These include bank charges, interest and transactions that have not been entered in to the Cash Book.
After completing the reconciliation, you can amend the status of transactions from the imported bank file from reconciled to unreconciled. This allows you to deal with errors or overlooked transactions.
