Lock date

This feature is ideal if you want to prevent transactions from being added to an accounting period you class as closed. Perhaps you have completed your accounts up to a certain date, generated a set of financial reports to understand the financial state of your business and therefore don't want the values to change.

Anyone who has access to this feature can choose to override the blocking of transactions during transaction entry. This may be suitable for managers or supervisors. Otherwise, to ensure you block others from adding transactions, you need to remove their access to this feature. For further information about Access Rights, please refer to Ask Sage article 11323.

You can:

To activate a lock date

  1. Settings menu > Lock Date.

  2. To activate the feature, select the Lock posting before check box.
  3. Enter the last day of the period to lock.

Tip: After this day the ledgers are classed as open.

  4. Click OK.

Tip: Changes to this feature, including date changes, are found in the Event Log.
